Fire Door Sets

A complete door set comes with almost everything already in place to make life easy so all you need to do is install it into the aperture. Standard door sets (sometimes called pre hung doorsets) are supplied with latch, strike-plate, door leaf, hinges and door linings in place. The door handles and door stop supplied loose.

A fire door set is exactly the same as a standard door set with just a few differences: 

• they have a different hinge system 
• they have an intumescent strip pre-fitted in the lining
• FD30 fire doors are 44mm thick 
• FD60 fire doors are 54mm thick (standard door sets are 35mm thick)

An intumescent strip (sometimes called an intumescent seal) comes as part of your set and arrives fitted into place. It’s a piece of fire-resistant material that goes in the door frames of a fire door set. The way it works is that the strip expands, preventing fire from spreading should such an event occur.

Prefinished fire doors have already been finished to a high standard which means they can be installed with no additional coats required. If you specify a white primed or unfinished fire door set, you’ll need to paint it in your chosen colour once it’s installed. CLIMADOOR sets always come with a primed frame that needs to be base/top-coated on-site.

Fitting tolerance on a door set relates to the gap between the outside edge of the set's lining and the edge of your structural opening. Both our standard and fire door sets have a fitting tolerance of 10mm in width and height.
